Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is a durable, robust and waterproof floor which is suitable for use in all rooms of the home, including areas of high footfall such as hallways and living spaces. It's also suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and conservatories and can be used with underfloor heating, making it a warm and practical floor throughout the year.
There is a wide range of designs to choose from, with many that are authentic and look so realistic that only those who are aware of its true nature would be able to tell the difference. Most are even textured to give a real feel underfoot, which can add comfort and warmth to the room.
Choosing the right type of LVT is important and will depend on several factors such as room size, budget, installation method and whether you opt for dry back or rigid click LVT. Both have their benefits but there are differences that you should be aware of.
For example, gluedown flooring tends to be cheaper than click LVT, which is mainly due to the fact that the tiles are thinner in click flooring, however this doesn't mean that it's more expensive in installation costs as professional fitters can install both types of flooring with ease.
Another difference between the two is that gludown LVT can be used in rooms that have heavy traffic such as the garage, however click flooring may struggle with this as the wear layer is not designed to withstand the impact of car tires and chemicals. This could lead to the flooring lifting and exposing vulnerabilities at the seams.
